Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our service department.

What types of small engines do you repair?

We service and repair all major small engine brands including Kawasaki, Briggs & Stratton, Kohler, Honda, and more. Whether it's a lawn mower engine, snowblower motor, or yard tool powerhead, our technicians have the experience to diagnose and fix it.

How often should I get my lawn mower tuned up?

We recommend a full tune-up at least once per season, ideally in early spring before heavy use. A tune-up includes an oil change, air filter replacement, spark plug inspection, blade sharpening, and a full safety check to keep your mower running at peak performance.

Do you service snowblowers and when should I bring mine in?

Yes, we service all types of snowblowers including single stage, two stage, and three stage models from Cub Cadet, Toro, and Troy-Bilt. We recommend bringing yours in during early fall for a pre-season tune-up so it's ready when the first snowfall hits.

What yard tool services do you offer?

We repair and maintain trimmers, chainsaws, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, and more. Services include carburetor cleaning and rebuilds, fuel system repairs, chain sharpening, ignition troubleshooting, and general tune-ups to keep your yard tools running reliably.

My lawn mower won't start – can you fix it?

Absolutely. A lawn mower that won't start is one of the most common issues we see. It's often caused by a dirty carburetor, stale fuel, a faulty spark plug, or a clogged air filter. Bring it in or book a pickup and we'll diagnose the problem and get it running again.

How much does a small engine tune-up cost?

Tune-up pricing varies depending on the equipment type and engine size. Contact us or submit a booking request for a quote. We always provide an estimate before starting any work so there are no surprises.

Do you offer pickup and delivery for service?

Yes! If you can't bring your equipment in, we offer pickup and delivery. The fee is a $25 flat rate within 10 km of Wallaceburg, with an additional $1.50 per km (round trip) beyond that. Use our booking form above to get an instant quote.

What should I do to winterize my lawn mower?

Winterization includes stabilizing or draining the fuel, changing the oil, cleaning or replacing the air filter, removing the battery, and ensuring the mower is stored properly. We offer a full winterization service so your mower is protected through the off-season and ready to go in spring.

How long does a typical repair take?

Most standard tune-ups and minor repairs are completed within 2–3 business days. More complex engine repairs may take longer depending on parts availability. We'll keep you updated on the timeline once we've assessed your equipment.

Do you service equipment not purchased from The Outdoor Store?

Yes, we service outdoor power equipment regardless of where it was purchased. Whether you bought it from a big box store or another dealer, our service department is happy to help with repairs and maintenance.
